Photography and Website Design
by Raven Effects
Welcome to Raven Effects. I am a Chicago local with a creative streak. In this site you'll find examples of both my work as a photographer and a graphic designer. Graphic design has always been an interest to me, and I have been fortunate enough to pursue a career in it.
Throughout my time in different jobs, I have been able to get a good share of time to both master and evaluate many different types of imaging software. The Adobe Creative Suite is my current toolkit, it helps put what's in my mind out onto the screen. The other side of the coin, when it comes designing for the web, is the code that puts all the little bits together, just how you wanted.
Photography is an equally important passion, not a hobby, but a full time day to day requirement in my life. Being able to create visually appealing images, both through the camera lens and through desktop software, has honed my ability to think visually for design projects as well.
I am a graduate of DePaul University's New Media Studies program, the perfect combination of media analysis and hands on development.
Experience
I am currently working as a web developer at Newark, a local electronics distributor here in Chicago.
Among my accomplisments, I have had the opportunity to create many flash based projects, including product selectors for product selection as well as web games for brand awareness.

Digital Design
Working with technology over the past decade means more than just pushing a mouse around the screen. To get ideas from mind to paper, and then to screen involves more steps than most people care to imagine.
I've learned to apply creative skills through various mediums in the creation of presentations, interactive tutorials, and art. To get to this point, I've had to acquaint myself with coding that goes beyond HTML, to CSS, JavaScript (as well as JQuery). To build a better, faster user interface, I've applied PHP and AJAX to populate MySQL databases.
These back-end systems, are the things that most of us don't think about, but they run the visually stunning websites we go to so often. Rather than stick only to front-end design, I've applied myself to gain an understanding of how the web works, making sure that I can always be fully aware of what is capable in the internet today.
Flash Development
Flash can be more than just a way to host movies on the web. It's also more than just games. Flash can be a powerful interface to connect users with the information they need.
Here are a few recent samples of my Flash projects:

Photography
They say that you should do what you love. Well, one of my passions has always been photography. In fact, that's what you'd probably find me doing - taking pictures of the city, my dog, what have you.
I take my camera with me always, you never know what you'll find around some corner.
In this section, you can see some of the photos I've taken, some for fun, and some as work.
